Gratefulness

Hopefully, all of you have experienced moments of being overwhelmingly grateful for an unexpected kindness. Assuming that you have, you’ll understand how I’ve been feeling for the last fortnight.

When I asked for help with the final stages of proofreading ‘Who Stole Grandma?’ I knew that people would offer, but I wasn’t expecting 33 people to!

Friends from my boyhood, friends from our college days, friends from my teaching days, relatives, relatives of friends, e.friends who I’ve never actually met, partners of e.friends and people who (it turns out) recognise me only from my silly headwear have all been reading and correcting and pinging emails and texts, FaceTiming and video calling to chat in detail.

Not only have they given the prod to hundreds of improvements (punctuation, spelling, omissions, incorrect ‘into’s and ‘onto’s, Americanisms, rewordings), but they have been enormously encouraging.

So, a gigantic, heartfelt thank you from a wannabe published author, who is much closer to clicking the ‘Submit’ button on Amazon Kindle and ordering a batch of turny page, ‘proper’ books (still aiming for the last week of May).

And . . . to cap it all, out of the blue, a dear friend in Adelaide, sent me this WSG inspired piece of art 💜 (Huge love & big thanks to Liz @tide_and_tribe).
